Shelly’s Bio

     Shelly is a Parent Educator and Coach who helps parents create a family life they truly love! She has worked directly with children and families in various capacities for over 20 years. Shelly currently teaches parenting workshops in NYC and coaches parents all over the world via phone/internet.

   Shelly began facilitating parenting workshops in 2007 in NYC based on the celebrated books: How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk and Siblings Without Rivalry by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. She attended New York University to become a Certified Personal and Executive Coach. Shelly is a mother of 2, former labor doula and childbirth educator.

    In addition to facilitating parenting workshops throughout New York City and offering private coaching services, Shelly often speaks to parent groups at NYC’s independent and public schools, corporations and community organizations.

      Shelly trained as a Childbirth Educator with the Metropolitan Childbirth Education Association and became a certified labor doula through DONA International in 2002.  She has been privileged to work with scores of parents providing prenatal education, labor/delivery coaching, early postpartum support and most recently parenting skills and strategies. 

    Shelly is passionate about working with families, teachers, and all care-givers to improve patterns of relating which start at birth and continue with the legacy we leave through our children.   Shelly is a native of South Dakota where she graduated magna cum laude in 1990 with BA’s in English and Theology from Augustana College.  She lives with her husband and two children in Manhattan.

Lives with her family in NYC along with their pet dolphin. She believes it’s important to maintain a sense of humor since losing your mind isn’t an option.
